Show HN: iDoRecall – Spaced Repetition Flashcards

by | Aug 9, 2020 | Cards | 1 comment

It’s without a doubt that iDoRecall has been pivotal to my success as both a college student, and aspiring medical worker.

Before iDoRecall I only studied passively by re-reading notes I had and that was if I even studied at all. I had no idea if I was truly using my time well, and my motivation to study was at an all time low. My grades reflected that attitude and I was a mediocre to low-scoring student all throughout High School.

Now that I have a ready to go, flashcard based system that is quizzing me only on what need to learn the most, all of the leg work is done for me. This has personally transformed my academic life, as someone who used to never study and received grades that reflected that, to a 3.7 GPA Honors College student.

iDR is a fantastic study tool! It helped reduce the amount of time I studied, increased my recognition & recall skills and kept me accountable to practice every day – even for only 15 min! You can add diagrams to the flash cards, which saved my hand from cramping, and it was helpful to visually see concepts I struggled with. I also really enjoyed the practice feature, which selects your worst rated cards and reminds you to practice them. This has been an amazing way to enhance my studying and I’ve been able to achieve higher grades!

IDoRecall is the perfect answer for students who ask, “I studied for two hours, but I bombed the test. What can I do differently?” It helps students chunk the right concepts and then discover and focus on the information that they understand the least in order to build their knowledge. A great learning tool!

Since using iDoRecall, I know the time I spend studying is not wasted. I am able to recollect the vast majority of the material I have studied over the last few months.

I love how you are able to link a recall to a specific part of your uploaded study materials. You are also able to link to a specific point in a video, or to a webpage. I am a visual learner, and this feature has helped me enormously.

iDoRecall has changed the way I work and the way I see the world. To summarize, here are the three advantages:

(1) Huge time saver. Indeed, it is now possible to read a book and/or follow a MOOC once and remember the most important concepts for life-thanks to flashcards and IDR’s spaced repetition algorithm

(2) Intuition enhancer, because by practicing IDR flashcards daily, the concepts learned come to mind quickly when I need them the most

(3) Creativity booster, because practicing flashcards randomly allows me to connect the dots and generate unexpected ideas.

In sum, I sincerely believe that iDoRecall can have an incredibly positive impact on the education of people who use it consistently. Thanks to iDoRecall

I am a 40 y.o. mom of 3 going back to school in order to earn a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. I have been using iDoRecall since September 2019 and I really enjoy it. Setting up my recalls is a great way to make sure I understand the corpus well, and I get to study them on my iphone during my commute (by bus).My grades have been amazing (A+ all the way!) and I enjoy using the app to study. I give IDoRecall an A+!

iDR is an essential part of my daily routine and I use it to help me to remember all kinds of things that are important to me. Its spaced repetition feature helps me to retain information that I know I would have forgotten without it. When I do forget something, it is so easy to quickly review the original document to refresh my memory without any wasted effort spent trying to find the original document or the specific relevant passage within that document. iDR eliminates friction points in my studying and allows me to efficiently spend my time either learning the material or reviewing my recalls; not looking for information. With iDR I have created more systematic and organized study habits that provide me a greater sense of confidence that I am keeping up with all of the important information in my life.
